I’m deeply grateful to be part of the Satori support team. My journey to this point has been long and often difficult — I spent 18 years battling addiction and mental health challenges, with many highs and lows along the way. My first experience with rehab was right here at Satori, a place that offered me not just treatment, but true compassion and hope when I needed it most.

Today, I’m actively involved in the 12-step program, which continues to be a vital part of my recovery. I also offer sponsorship to others on their journey — something that brings me great purpose and reminds me daily of how far I’ve come.

Recovery has completely transformed my life, and it’s an honor to now give back as part of the team that helped me heal. I understand how overwhelming the first steps can feel, and I’m here to offer support, empathy, and encouragement every step of the way.

Graham Freeman is a certified Counsellor, Addiction Therapist, Recovery Coach, drug/alcohol Intervention specialist and a personal fitness coach.He has over 21 years experience working closely with individuals and their families in their battle with addiction and behavioural health challenges.

He further provides a safe transportation service to and from treatment centres in both the UK and overseas. Having worked voluntarily and professionally in this field for over 25 years, Graham has had the privilege of assisting countless individuals into recovery. Observing individuals and their families recover from the devastating effects of alcoholism and other addictions is his passion in life.

Rebecca has spent more than 10 years in client/patient relations in the medical sector,specializing in building and sustaining patient relations. She holds Counselling and Psychotherapy qualifications from the University of Gibraltar.

This skills qualification forms the foundation of professional counselling practice. It provides the essential listening and communication skills used by helping professionals.

She has worked in addiction treatment centres in the USA and Europe as a recovery specialist and sober coach, specializing in relationship building, therapeutic listening, and problem-solving.

Cissy Fisser de Gier

ACC Amsterdam

Cissy is a group and individual therapist who has been working in the field of addiction for over a decade.She holds a diploma as a Counsellor and Coach from the Academy for Counselling and Coaching in Amsterdam.

She first conducted group therapy sessions as a volunteer for the Cascade International Addiction Counselling Service.

After completing her counselling training, she worked as a 12-step counsellor for Promis in London and later in their Netherlands aftercare centre in Amsterdam.

Cissy has also worked as a 12-step counsellor at the Tactus Addiction Care outpatient clinic in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, and has experience with the Minnesota Model. She has conducted both group and individual therapy and has expertise in crisis intervention.

Fluent in English, Dutch, and German, she currently provides 12-step prison service for alcoholics and addicts in Alhaurín de la Torre. She is deeply inspired by her work in recovery, and her own journey informs her approach.

Working at Satori, you don’t just demonstrate your skills as a chef. You learn every day to deal with different customers, understand them and make them feel comfortable. Cooking means conveying through food that they are special, and that I do it with a lot of passion.

I moved to Spain in 2023 and I’m grateful to Luke and Satori’s team who opened their doors to me in a beautiful way where I can combine my love for service to others and my sound healing sessions, help them connect with their body through yoga and be able to enhance their stay by assisting them on a daily basis.

Dr Angelina is an experienced Psychiatrist with 20+ Years in Mental Health with adults and children, specializing in PTSD and trauma related personality disorders. Exceptionally apt to Psychotherapy methods achieving proven results with her individual approach of a Holistic Mental Health Care. 20 years of cross-cultural experience from living all over Central and Eastern Europe, as well as, in New Zealand and the UK.

Dr Roberto Mella brings over 20 years of diverse and extensive medical experience to Satori Recovery. Born in Brussels and multilingual in English, German, Spanish, Italian, and French, he is a seasoned medical professional with a truly global perspective. His career spans military and civilian medicine, from serving as a naval doctor for the German Navy to practicing as an anesthesiologist and emergency response physician in leading medical institutions across Europe.

Dr. Mella’s expertise is complemented by his entrepreneurial ventures, including founding medical service and consulting enterprises such as the German Dream Team. His specialized training includes anesthesiology, hyperbaric and diving medicine, osteopathy, and medical quality management. His passion for holistic care makes him an exceptional guide for Satori’s mission to provide transformative recovery experiences.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Mella’s personal journey reflects a deep commitment to growth and learning. As a mentor, teacher, and advocate for lifelong education, he combines clinical expertise with empathetic leadership, embodying the values of excellence and compassion central to Satori Recovery.

My name is Mike and I am from Vancouver. I have battled with addiction since I was 16 years old. I found the 12 steps of recovery and it has changed my life completely. Through doing the steps it did not only help me get sober but also helped me completely change my life. It has helped me find a journey to discover who I am and what gives me joy.

Lucrezia Moncado

My name is Lucrezia, I am from Rome and I am 33 years old. I have battled for more than half my life with active addiction to a plethora of different substances and a list of mental health diagnosis. I have first hand experience with coming in to treatment, resisting it all, being defiant, then finally surrendering, working a 12 step program and building a new life, a life I am happy to live and be present and accountable for.Starting from the necessary foundation of reconnecting to my inner most self, I allowed myself the gift of embarking on the wonderful and challenging adventure of discovering who that is. Louis Fitzmaurice

My interest and exploration of ‘inner life’ began as a young actor studying Stanislavsky during training at LAMDA in 1981.
There I began to develop my understanding of the power of healing through expressing emotional memories aligned with our innermost selves, thoughts and feelings. After completing further training as a Drama therapist, I returned to the Theatre with a psychoanalytic understanding applied to text and performance.

In 1995 I began clinical work in a psychiatric hospital strengthening my knowledge and experience in group therapy, one-to-one counselling and live-in therapy. I’ve worked in all corners of the socioeconomic spectrum, including psychiatric hospitals, prisons, homeless shelters, community centres, outreach projects, private practice and three private clinics in Zurich.

I’ve worked as a therapist in London, Zurich, Hollywood, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, South Africa, Ukraine, and Dubai, My many years of experience practising and developing psychotherapeutic support and technique were enhanced with hundreds of hours of personal therapy, including psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, relational, addiction counselling, group and drama therapy. In 1990 I began my journey of recovery from alcoholism. I have been clean and sober since June 23rd1990. I am passionate about my work as a therapist. I believe therapy is ultimately about the acceptance of self.

Our journey through life often necessitates change – change in thinking and feeling, change in how to experience ourselves, change in our environment. Change can sometimes feel like loss or danger. I believe our role here at Satori Recovery is to provide clients with a space in which the courage to change can be found.

Sandra Wieraszko

I started my career in marketing at 19, driven by a passion for creativity and an eagerness to understand market dynamics. Over the years, I’ve honed my skills and deepened my love for this field, and now I’m thrilled to bring my expertise to Satori Recovery.

Lucy Snow

My name is Lucy, I have first hand experience of entering into a residential treatment programme, completing the programme to re-enter into my occupation, family, and relationships.

I volunteer at Satori with the aim to be able to help those leaving the treatment programme and begin a new life in recovery.

I have empathy and compassion for those that make the considerable, and sometimes challenging decision to enter into a residential treatment programme.

I am trained in Level 2 and 3 Counselling and Psychotherapy whilst currently working towards a level 4 diploma.
I have a deep understanding of the 12 step fellowship programmes, and recovery “Tools” used to enable those to deter themselves away from substance abuse and compulsive detrimental behaviours.

Dr Jaime Bendeck

I am both a General Practitioner as well as a Family and an Emergency Doctor. I have been working in Gibraltar and in Andalucía since 2014.

In my career, I have worked for ‘Doctors Without Borders’ (Médicos Sin Fronters-MSF) in some twenty countries. I mention this because of the way that this organisation’s values with patients, has marked my way of working, as someone with a genuine humanitarian commitment.

This means that you, as my patient, is the centre of the way that I work and my purpose with you is to make you feel that my drive is your well-being.

I will thus be attending you personally and regularly at SATORI as I will go and hold my clinics there. I will thus get to know you personally, and we can work together in a more personal manner. My purpose is to make you feel personally cared for.

Carly Grossmith

Carly is 46 and from Hertfordshire, UK.
She is a mother of two children aged 20 and 18 and came into recovery with a cocaine addiction.
Continuing the 12-step program daily, she has extensive knowledge around the 12-step recovery program and has been involved in helping in prisons, rehabs and mental health institutions.

She gives alot of support within Satori to the clients and supports the group with daily meditation, daily reflection and gratitude groups to start the day and attends all workshops and AA meetings outside of the rehab centre.

Danae Zazeraj

Danae is a Certified Nutritional Therapist and a member of the Association of Naturopathic Practitioners UK and General Naturopathic Council UK. She continues keeping up to date with the latest research, including Functional Microbiome and Liver Education. She currently also works with Cancer Patients.

Since qualifying in 2010, Danae has been passionately guiding people and empowering them through nutrition and lifestyle to restore their wellbeing.

Each treatment plan is tailored to the individual, working at a comfortable pace that ensures change is sustainable.

Paul Gordon

Paul has been sober from drink and drugs for 21 years. He has worked as a sober companion for the last 10 years providing 24 hour support to recovering addicts.

Paul has a very calm and caring personality, which he uses to support both family and clients while they make their first steps into recovery. Paul believes that the journey of recovery should be a joyful path.

He knows how make you smile as well as being a shoulder to cry on. The experience he brings to his role is second to none. He is compassionate and kind and has walked the path himself, so he knows every step of the journey. He is a safe pair of hands to help guide the way.

Mark Carlin

In May 2023, Mark became an Accredited “Recovery Coach Professional RCP” after completing a range of CCAR Recovery Coaching courses. This followed a successful 35-year career in IT.

Mark transitioned into Recovery Coaching after twenty years of active sobriety in a 12-step fellowship. For eighteen of those years, he was privileged to sponsor approximately twenty men, assisting them in achieving sobriety and integrating recovery into their happy family and professional lives.

Mark is fully committed to using the CCAR Recovery Coaching skills to help others start and maintain their journeys into recovery.

I am a dedicated 30-year-old nurse committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care to my patients. With a robust background in nursing, I focus on the holistic care of my patients, ensuring their physical, emotional, and psychological needs are effectively met.

My approach emphasizes creating a supportive and comforting environment, always prioritizing the safety and well-being of those in my care. I possess strong skills in communication, teamwork, and decision-making under pressure. Furthermore, I am committed to continuously updating my knowledge to deliver the best possible care.

Anna Scullard

Anna is an osteopath registered both in the UK and in Spain. She uses her passion for health and movement to provide care to those of all ages. After graduating with distinction from the British School of Osteopathy (now the University College of Osteopaths), Anna went on to complete her Masters in Paediatric Osteopathy at the prestigious Osteopathic Centre for Children. There, she spent two years working within their clinic gaining valuable experience treating children of all ages and pregnant and post partum women. Since this time she has continued to specialise further in women’s health.
Anna uses a variety of approaches including cranial, structural and visceral techniques depending on the presentation. With over 18 years experience in practice, she works closely with her patients to provide a safe, tailored treatment plan.

From working in an educational environment for many years, I changed my career path after coming into recovery myself. Through lived experience and training, I love being able to support people who have made the brave decision to address their own addiction and mental and physical health challenges.

I am a Drawing and Talking Therapist and an Emotional Literacy Practitioner (ELSa)

Hello, My Name is Hollie Houston, I am a Sound Therapist, Breathwork Instructor, Movement Specialist and Life Coach. Three years ago, I was Dependent on Alcohol, Drugs, Sex and Self-Harming, to fill the Void and Emptiness I had in my Heart. Through my own Personal Inner Healing Journey, I was able to overcome these Challenges and now I am here to offer my Support to others that are going through similar experiences. It was through the Holistic and Spiritual Journey, I was able to Heal my own Wounds and Traumas. Breathing is our Life Force Energy, that is here to Support and Guide us. My name is Fatima. She has a diploma in nursing from the University of Granada and is an expert in nursing in emergency and emergency situations from the Antonio de Nebrija University.

I have extensive experience in different services such as: emergencies, internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics at the Costa del Sol Hospital, oncology and hematology at the Hospital de la Línea de la Concepción and emergencies at the Cenyt Hospital.

I became a nurse because since I was little I have liked being able to help and care for others. The satisfaction of seeing a recovery or overcoming a complicated situation is the most rewarding thing in my work.

I consider myself an empathetic person, with active and resilient listening.

Ana Grin-Atias

I am a multilingual therapist with a diverse cultural background, having been born in Romania, raised in Israel, and lived in Thailand, China, and Spain.

Certified in Psychology and addiction therapy, cognitive behaviour, psychological first aid, science of well-being, Therapeutic Art, and life purpose coaching, I bring a comprehensive skill set to My practice. With over five years of experience volunteering and working with individuals recovering from various addictions, I am dedicated to guiding others towards a fulfilling life.
My optimistic outlook sees life’s challenges as opportunities for growth, emphasizing the importance of finding the right path to overcome obstacles. My approach to therapy is characterized by empathy, positivity, and a commitment to helping clients achieve their goals for recovery and personal development.

Graham Hellier

Graham is a founder of Satori and is proud to be an investor in an organisation focused on mental health and wellbeing.

Graham was awarded an MBE for services to charity, in particular the funding and building of a village in El Salvador. The village is called Pequena Inglaterra – Little England, and his now home to 3,000+ people.

Graham invests and sits on the board of numerous companies in sectors such as Online Healthcare, Commercial Solar Installations, Solar Farms, Heat Omission Reduction, Tech, Property and others.

Julia Zuniga

I’m Julia, a young nurse who decided to dedicate her career to helping people with mental health problems. I studied at the University of Malaga, and I am studying now the specialty of Mental Health.
I chose Nursing because I am passionate about helping others and I feel fulfilled when I can make a difference in someone’s life. I believe in the good people, in the power of the human being and I believe that all of us are here to make the world a better place.
I am very happy to be part of this project, and I hope to contribute to the improvement of your life.

Bjorn Boyetin

Björn is 56 years old and was born in Denmark where he grew up, as a 16-year-old he moved to Sweden. Björn is an engineer, educated at Linköping University of Technology after his degree work, Björn started working as a system developer for a couple of years. Björn then worked as a project manager in the aviation industry and for a period was IT manager. Later, he also worked as an IT consultant, mainly as a project manager, but also as a business consultant at management level periodically in the USA. Björn showed good entrepreneurial skills and started a successful company with several employees. Björn experienced a heavy loss when his brother died at a young age due to the disease of addiction and his parents also died of the same disease and that he himself developed an addiction. Björn began his own recovery and after a number of years of sobriety, Björn chose to dedicate his life and professional life to the treatment of alcohol and substance addiction. Björn retrained and has attended several training courses and has worked as a Recovery Coach and Counselor and also participated in the establishment of a Recovery Home in Spain. In recent years, Björn has worked for addiction centers in and out patients both in the UK and in Scandinavia with various tasks such as treatment, admission, marketing, business development and case management. He is passionate about helping patients find a new life in recovery.
Education and skills: Björn has a science degree and an engineering degree from Linköping University of Technology. He is certified CCAR RCP. Björn is also a CRA/A-CRA Counselor via ACRA Sweden and has completed several ongoing trainings including MI, a treatment method that he has a great commitment to. Ethical considerqations for Recovery Specialists, Professionalism for Recovery Specialists and Supervision for Recovery Specialists. In addition, Björn has attended several different leadership trainings.
Björn is a member of IARCP (International Association of Recovery Coach Professionals) and an active member of EARS (European Association of Recovery Specialists)
What is the best thing about Satori Recovery? Working at Satori Recovery is extremely stimulating. Paula Moreno

I have experience as a medical director in clinics, creating, managing, and supervising personalized and multidisciplinary rehabilitation plans.

My native language is Spanish, and I speak English.

I spent my childhood and adolescence in Cádiz and Málaga, respectively. I studied Medicine at the University of Granada (Spain) and specialized in Psychiatry in Palma de Mallorca, where I also had the opportunity to work in the specific Eating Disorder Unit upon completing my specialization and training.

I completed part of my training as a psychiatrist at Zucker Hillside Hospital in New York, where I participated in several research studies on first episodes of schizophrenia. I enjoyed the American experience so much that I decided to take the necessary exams to validate my medical degree in the United States.

Finally, I settled in my homeland and have been living on the Costa del Sol since 2016, where I work as a psychiatrist for adults, adolescents, and children.

I am A support worker/carer. I am Indian and was born in Kenya. I lived in Kenya for 7 years and moved to London where I lived for 31 years. Having had my own family, we moved to Malaga 21 years ago. I speak English. Spanish and Punjabi. On arriving in Spain, I was offered a job in a residential home and that is where my journey began. For 21 years I have looked after the elderly. 18 months ago, I got an opportunity to have a slight change in direction by being able to help those seeking Recovery. This change came with great rewards and my passion is now in being able to dedicate myself selflessly in the pursuit of helping others make long lasting changes. Away from my work I enjoy traveling, experiencing culture and trying all different cuisines.

Helena Akesson

I am a CBT therapist with extensive experience from work in addiction, crime and mental illness since the year 2000. I have worked both in social services, correctional services, addiction treatment and as a therapist in treatment homes. With my own experience with the disease of addiction, I am today a recovering alcoholic and as part of Satori’s team I offer both group and individual treatment.

With great humility and heart, is my foundation in CBT – cognitive behavioural therapy and the 12-step program.
I have a background in behavioural science university degree, training in ACT-acceptance and commitment theory, MI-motivational interviewing, supervisor training and NADA-acupuncture. For the past 11 years, I have worked as Operations Manager within private addiction treatment for adults and in family home care for children and young people.

I feel extremely grateful to be part of the team at Satori Recovery, which exudes care, professionalism and has a collective solid experience. With elements of spirituality, and a wonderful environment, Satori is a safe place for recovery.

Sharon George

Sharon George originally trained as a professional ballet dancer in the UK and had a career in the theatre and film industry.
She has lived and worked all over the world and now makes Spain her home.
She offers wellbeing services to all ages, backgrounds, men and women. Yoga, meditation, mindfulness tuition and courses are available, as well as Reiki natural healing and applied Hypnotherapy.
These wellbeing services help people to understand the nature of the mind, to heal, to learn, to grow, to flow more with life. They can be transformative and can help bring about much needed change.

Cissy Fisser de Gier

Cissy is a group and individual therapist at Solice Recovery. She has been working in the field of addiction over the last decade.
Cissy holds a diploma as Counsellor and Coach from the Academy for Counselling and Coaching in Amsterdam. She trained in addiction counselling with the Promis recovery clinic in Kent, England.
Cissy first held group therapy sessions as a volunteer for the Cascade International addiction counselling service. After finishing her counselling training, she started working as a 12-step counsellor for Promis in London. The recovery centres she has worked with practice the Minnesota Model.  Cissy has experience in holding group and individual therapy as well as in crisis intervention. She has working knowledge of English, Dutch and German.  Cissy is compassionate, loves group therapy and enjoys being part of a team.

Dr Rodrigo De La Oliva

As an anaesthesiologist specialized in pain treatment and the management of patients on opioid therapy, my career has been defined by a commitment to understanding and alleviating the complexities of human suffering. My enriching journey through detoxification clinics has afforded me the privilege of contributing to significant transformations in the lives of my patients, achieving outcomes that go beyond the ordinary. My approach not only focuses on therapeutic intervention but also encompasses the cognitive-behavioural dimension of treatment, providing holistic care that addresses all facets of addiction. Additionally, I bring extensive experience in psychiatric treatment specifically tailored to substance abuse, enhancing my ability to support patients through their recovery process comprehensively.

I deeply believe in the power of empathy and a thorough understanding of each case, which allows me to guide my patients towards recovery with a personalized and compassionate approach. Mei Flynn

I’m a Holistic Counsellor and Confidence Coach with more than 25 years of experience in the Health & Wellness Industry. I’m looking for an opportunity to apply my skills and experience here in Spain and I’d love to bring my expertise and enthusiasm to your team at Satori.
While there are many healing modalities available these days in my personal and professional experience what helps to bring shifts for long-lasting effects using psycho-spiritual techniques to help facilitate their journey from addiction to recovery. This gently invites clients to go beyond the mind level to connect with a Higher Power to cultivate inner peace and happiness from within and this can help clients.
I experienced my own trauma as a child and seeked comfort in alcohol over the years until I started my own journey with regular counselling sessions to explore the root cause of my addiction. This helped me to find inner peace and be able to explore the limiting beliefs I had been holding onto which has enabled me to cultivate a more positive outlook to life and in turn work as a professional to empower others.
I’ve been a world traveller most of my life until I chose to settle in Spain. I’ve worked at holistic centres in Sri Lanka and Thailand with clients with addictions as well as online with people worldwide. There’s not a fixed way that suits everyone and I’m passionate following an initial meeting to connect with a client to create an unique and bespoke package for them. This is a combination of talking therapy and energy healing to help unlock the deeper issues in a safe space of trust for the client as often clients find it difficult to express themselves so the use of art, drawing, writing etc is used.
I believe the integration of Mind, Body & Spirit is important for successful programmes and I feel the skills, knowledge, experience and wisdom I can offer will be an asset to any team to facilitate a client’s journey. I also love to work in nature working while respecting the boundaries of programmes offered at Satori with regards to the environment and stability of clients.

Laura Buckley

Laura has been supporting clients struggling with addiction for many years, providing care, compassion, and professionalism. She has joined us from Ireland, where she worked in Private Practice as a Counselling Psychotherapist and Coaching Psychologist, additionally supporting clients in an esteemed addiction treatment centre. Her own life experience coupled with her psychotherapeutic training has given her solid awareness and knowledge about the harmful effects of addiction, not only on the individual but also their loved ones and the wider community alike.

As an Integrative Therapist, she has experience working with individuals and groups presenting with a diversity of mental health difficulties. Her training provides her with a variety of theoretical frameworks that allow her to tailor her work to meet the needs of each client; including but not limited to Person-Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Internal Family Systems, Choice Theory, Coaching and Mindfulness. She provides a safe, authentic therapeutic space to support clients in finding healthy ways of coping with emotional, personal, social, and psychological difficulties.

Deb is a licensed Counsellor with over 25 years’ experience in the mental health sector.

She specialises in sexual violence, abuse and trauma, eating disorders, addiction and Couples Therapy. She also works with the subconscious mind helping to change negative patterning into finding a positive way forward. 

She has worked in Private Practice in the UK and with the Police commissioner in working with survivors of sexual assault going through the court system. Having moved to Spain 2 years ago, now has a thriving Private Practice in Marbella working with clients from all over the world.

Louise Stephenson

MSc., AP APM, MBACP, EMDR Practitioner, Schema

Louise is a Certified Drug and Alcohol Addiction Counsellor (Advanced Practitioner Member of AP). Louise attained a distinction for her MSc. in Addiction Psychology and Counselling.
Her practice is trauma-informed, and she has recently qualified as an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) practitioner.

Louise works eclectically; she studied psychodynamic counselling at WPF and Person-Centred therapy at the Metanoia Institute. Louise also attended a course in Interpersonal Group Therapy at Action of Addiction, which was accredited by the University of Bath.
Having worked for 25 years in film production, Louise decided to retrain as a mental health therapist. Louise has worked in addiction treatment centres since 2009, both in Spain and the UK. Louise has also been involved in 12-step recovery for the past twenty years.
